Spirulina groundnut Chikki:

CFTRI develops Spirulina groundnut Chikki to boost immunity during the pandemic. The Mysuru-based Central Food Technological Research Institute, CFTRI has developed Spirulina groundnut Chikki that can provide micro-nutrients and boost the immunity of people during this time of the pandemic.

  • It can provide micro-nutrients and boost the immunity of people during this time of the pandemic.
  • Spirulina is a biomass of cyanobacteria (blue-green algae) that can be consumed by humans and animals.

 

Defence Research Ultraviolet Sanitiser (DRUVS):

A DRDO lab in Hyderabad has developed a Contactless Sanitisation Cabinet called Defence Research Ultraviolet Sanitizer (DRUVS) which has been designed to sanitise mobile phones, iPods, laptops, currency notes, challans etc, said Defence Research and Development Organisation.

  • Developed by Hyderabad based Research Centre Imarat (RCI), a DRDO lab.
  • It is an automated contactless UVC sanitisation cabinet.
  • It has been designed to sanitise mobile phones, iPods, laptops, currency notes, cheque leafs, challans, passbooks, paper, envelopes, etc.

 

SwasthVayu:

CSIR – National Aerospace Laboratories (NAL), Bengaluru, a constituent lab of CSIR, has developed a Non-Invasive BiPAP Ventilator “SwasthVayu” in a record time of 36 days to treat COVID-19 patients. BiPAP Non-Invasive Ventilator is a microcontroller-based precise closed-loop adaptive control system with a built-in biocompatible “3D printed manifold & coupler” with HEPA filter (Highly Efficient Particulate Air Filter).

  • It is a non-invasive breathing support device, for the use of non-critical non-ICU cases of Covid-19.
  • BiPAP stands for Bilevel Positive Airway Pressure. It is a type of positive pressure ventilator.

 

COVID Kavach Elisa:

Indian Council of Medical Research (ICMR)-National Institute of Virology (NIV) at Pune has developed and validated the indigenous IgG ELISA test “COVID KAVACH ELISA” for antibody detection for COVID-19.

  • It is India’s first indigenous antibody-based ELISA test kit for diagnosis of novel Corona Virus.
  • It can test around 90 samples in approximately two and a half hours. The technology has been transferred to pharmaceutical manufacturing companies for mass-scale production.
